the remedies in a slightly different order: Natrum phosphoricum and then Causticum and then Pulsatilla. I like the fact that I saw Causticum in the bend of the joints; that is a confirming point. And of course, his paralysis is also a confirming point; in fact, this symptom is important enough to make me change my mind. When I came into the class I was seriously considering Natrum phosphoricum, but now that I have looked further into the repertory, I am more drawn to Causticum, for the reasons I’ve already mentioned. It is said that Phosphorus and Causti-cum are inimical because they are very similar remedies. If the one is given and it does not act, we would not consider that a remedy was given, and so we would then give the other. But if Causticum acts, you cannot give Phosphorus because it will upset the action of Causticum; it will antidote.
(A.14): What about his tongue? It is difficult to see from here. What did you find?
(G.V.): I was looking for signs of Natrum phosphoricum on his tongue – a yellow tongue – but there was only a little bit of yel-low, not enough to report.
(A.15): Can we also use the urticaria after narcosis?
(G.V.): Yes, I would prefer Pulsatilla for that, because out of these three remedies, it is the best for the urticaria. You could say that perhaps Pulsatilla will appear later on as an underly-ing remedy. You also see Pulsatilla stemming from his infancy because he had this disgust very early on. It is a congenital sort of disgust.
