suffering at the moment? Well, you could say that her menses are suppressed; so, if the menses were to start again, that would be one solid curative action by which to judge the effectiveness of the remedy. But she has already said that her menses have started to appear again. There are no pains. Her psychological state will be more difficult for her to evaluate, therefore we shouldn’t expect too much direct information here. What should we do? I would suggest that whoever is looking after this case, a doctor from Munich.
(A.29): I’d like to say something. One problem which no one has touched on so far is this young woman having been rejected by her family. From that point on her whole psychiatric history began to deteriorate. The foundation for her becoming ill was laid down at that point. Because she became homeless, she very quickly tried to build up another relationship. You heard that she very quickly started a relationship with someone else after the first relationship was terminated. She was always looking for security, for somebody to lean on. We could relate all her fears back to that particular event. If I were to translate these observations into the language of the repertory, then there’s one remedy that hasn’t been discussed at all: Causticum. I would like to suggest that Causticum be included in the consideration.(G.V.): Well, yes, at a certain point in the beginning, when I found out about her fear of animals and fear of the dark, I also thought of Causticum. You were very correct in bringing it up. This is another remedy that could have been considered together with Phosphorus. I did not pursue Causticum because I did not see the sort of mental make-up that I would expect with Causticum: I did not see concern for others, nor did I see a sympathetic element. Maybe I overlooked it, but it did not seem to me that she was concerned with world causes. She was also quite insecure and needed security, which was expressed by her desire to be married. These are things that you do not see with Causticum. What we would see in Causticum would be a much more aggressive and much more revolutionary attitude.
