(G.V.): Could you cope with these things one or two years ago? (F.P.): I was in school by myself, I was three hundred miles away from home, and I could study and go to classes, drive home by myself, although it took me six hours to go home, and I was not worried about driving by myself. Now I feel that I am very dependent on my husband and my mother.

(G.V.): You see, what has happened with her case is that she has been in a state of Baryta carbonica from childhood on. This is clear because she had difficulties learning. She makes an effort, she undergoes psychoanalysis, and eventually she is able to break out of her home environment and go three hundred miles away to study at college. That is a big thing for her. Then she comes back home where she has a boyfriend, but she cannot decide whether she will marry him or not. Eventually she decides to marry, and of course the next thing is to have children and then to buy a house. This is a time of stress, and again, under the stress the symptomatology of Baryta carbonica becomes unbearable. That is why we say that every one of us are in a state of a rem-edy; no one is in perfect health. Every one needs a remedy, but perhaps our symptomatology isn’t aggressive enough to make us seek out a remedy or treatment.
Under stress, one possibility is that, the remedy which we already need, will, develop further. Another possibility is that we will develop a remedy upon the constitution. This doesn’t mean that we will necessarily develop into a particular remedy under stress.
