In closing, I’ll just mention a few other remedies. Let’s take Natrum muriaticum. Do you think that Natrum muriaticum will tell you: “I have lack of self-confidence”? No. If you inquire and ask, “do you have lack of self-confidence?” They will reflect a moment and then say, “well, yes.” What is the idea with Natrum muriaticum and lack of self-confidence?: They lack self-confidence because they do not have easy contact. Natrum muriaticum knows that they cannot have easy contacts because they cannot dominate a situation involving many people; so they remain in the background and have a sense of not having the self- confidence. Natrum muriaticum waits until everybody has had their say before they will speak up. But if they sense an interest in what they are saying, then their self-confidence is boosted up again. So you see that a lack of self-confidence is not a real inner problem with Natrum muriaticum, because these people are in fact quite confident. It is only a matter of appear-ances: Once they feel a general trust has been instilled in them, then their insecurity disappears. Despite all your reassurances, Anacardium will not be able to shake this feeling of inadequacy. You can say whatever you like to Baryta carbonica patients, they will know that they are not in a position to meet the chal-lenge before them. Mercury, like Natrum muriaticum, will have tremendous problems communicating- they are so sensitive, not being able to even spell out words, begin stammering But if a good contact is established, then Mercury will come out of itself, will bloom.
The main point here is to show you that everyone has elements of goodness. Once you bring the person’s good sides out, even the most unpleasant of remedies, for example, Lachesis, Nux vomica etc can bring out the beautiful individual underneath that was hiding. I say this because what we are talking about here is disease, pathology that covers up the deepest part of the individual -the good element inside each and everyone of us.
