losing the confidence when they are over tired or overexerted. Silicea becomes insecure because they feel that their mental fac-ulties have been reduced, especially aftrer prolonged exertion. They feel completely exhausted, and if faced with a challenging situation at that time for example, holding a speech, they cannot face up to it and with it comes the lowered self-confidence This is Silicea, and quite different from a Baryta carbonica case.
“I am going to give a lecture and I can’t”: this is Gelsemium. Gelsemium is one of the worst remedies in regard to a complete loss of self-confidence when appearing in public. It doesn’t have to be a public meeting, it can be as small and private as a parent-teacher conference and that would have Gelsemium trembling. They are very nice, much like Lycopodium, but when you inquire about their behavior at home Gelsemium is still nice, whereas Lycopodium will be like the boss.
Lycopodium is quite bloated in thier ego; not only their abdo-men is filled with a lot of air. Examples of Lycopodium types: The Mussolini type; a lot of women; a lot of bravado, people of authority; dictators; that is why in our books it says: “the dicta-tors” When the Lycopodium child goes to the school, they will be very nice, such a sweet child; but when they come home they become a dictator because then they feel comfortable, feel that they are in control of things. The same thing happens when they marry: in the house they will feel they are in control, and they will show their power, but at the office they will be subordinate. They will try to appear strong in public, but they cannot success-fully. That is where they lose their self confidence.

By taking one symptom at a time, we learn to differentiate the parts of a remedy from the overall picture it gives. A computer system is very helpful but it will not be able to bring out the individuality from the peculiar symptoms we may feed it. because it takes a multitude of factors into consideraion all at the same time
