Whooping cough
Boy, 8 months old with severe cough in very frequent paroxysms, there being but little rest between them, appearing as though a tick- ling in the larynx might be the exciting cause. Aggravation in the morning. There was a good appetite, but the child was getting thin. Gave Iodium 200th in water, every two hours, for one day. The whooping and more severe symptoms were removed almost imme- diately, but some cough remained about six weeks, for which I had an opportunity of prescribing once.

Loss of hearing, difficult swallowing
Miss McL. – blind since 8, now 83 years of age, had been growing deaf during the past few years; her aurist had diagnosed a hard- ened tympanum . So, the deafness increased rapidly, until she had almost lost her hearing. I looked upon it as irretrievable. She was very frail and had had attacks of palpitation which would cause her to sit up in bed unable to sleep. She would be relieved for a time, but the conditions would arise again. This time I saw something more in the indications than usual. “Choking; difficult deglutition; consider- able pause between each act; catarrh; must eat every few hours; agg. after eating; losing flesh; weakness; palpitation; agg. exertion; melancholy: disposition to weep, etc.” . I sent Iodine 58m. A very few days later I was called on the phone and someone joyfully exclaimed “Do you see I hear again? I had lost my hearing entirely.” A few days later I saw and talked with her, the happiest woman “ever.” She could hear as well as before the late attack.
