Mme. S-, aged 25 years, married for three months, was attacked, without any known cause, with a marked increased of the thyroid gland, which had been already slightly enlarged. There was acute pain in the gland upon pressure or on the slightest movement of the head. Her general health was good. I gave her on the evening of July 10 th, bellad. 30 one-half drop, and on the 13 th, not seeing the least amelioration in her condition, I gave Merc. sol. 5/12. On the 20th the condition was the same, and I then gave iodine 2/30 (dissolved as in the previous case), ten drops in water every day. The amelioration was prompt.

On July 12 th, 1873, I gave spong. 30 and continued it until August 3d, but without any benefit. On the latter date he was given two powders of iodine 6 to take at an interval of three days, and sac. lac. for fifteen days. On August 17 th, the patient reported, that since the third day after taking the last medicine he had not felt as much tension in the tumor, and that since then his respiration had been entirely free; the voice was also clearer. I allowed the medicine to continue its action for eight days longer, but without any further effect. On August 24 th I repeated the iodine 6 and amelioration began again and continued until the middle of September, when, the progress having ceased, the remedy was again repeated and a new impulse given towards a
