Anaethesia of the retina
An interesting case of anaethesia of the retina of two months dura- tion, the result of looking at an eclipse, has been reported to me. The patient complained of seeing a light spot in the centre of the field of vision, surrounded by a dark ring, and again by a lighter ring, all of which were constantly turning and changing into various colors, especially green; aggravated on coming into a room from the bright sunlight and only relieved during sleep. There was also a feeling as if the eyes were pulled back into the head with photophobia. Vision 20/100. Field of vision very much contracted. Under Hepar200 the sensation of the eyes being pulled back into the head was at once relieved, and in twelve days the vision became 20/50 and the field of vision much enlarged.

On the 12th January, 1878, a lady, widow, aged 52, consulted me for what she called indigestion. The symptoms were as follows: A feeling of coldness of the head, chiefly the forehead. A burning sensation from the pit of the stomach to the throat and ears, always relieved by eating. Pain in bottom of back, round the waist, and also round the shoulders and nape of neck. Numbness of the right arm and hand. Fixed coldness at the pit of the stomach felt occasionally when the burning sensation was not present. On rising from a seat there was great difficulty from a feeling of stiffness of the limbs. Fatigue from the least exercise. Stiffness of the nape of the neck. Attacks of severe headache, with a sensation of weight at the back of eyeballs, and a feeling as though the eyes would be drawn back into the head. The patient stated that these symptoms had been gradually increasing for six years, but that, during the last twelve months, her sufferings had been very great; she did not believe anything could do her any good, as she had tried so many things, and had taken so much medicine without any good result. One dose of Hepar sulph. 3.000 was put on the tongue. In three months the case was so much improved that the lady called to report herself for the last time as well. This is one of the most satisfactory cases that has come under my observation for
