Opacity of the cornea
The patient was a stone – cutter; who a year before, had been al- lopathically treated for gonorrhoea. While working in his trade, he was struck in the eye by a piece of stone. A violent inflammation followed, which he attempted to subdue with tea – leaves, laudanum and acetate of lead, the latter of which always causes opacity of the cornea, when directly applied. The sclerotica looked like raw beef and light was intolerable. The patient meditated suicide, especially in the evening. There was a feeling of sand in the eye, and exami- nation revealed in the anterior chamber a collection of pus, appar- ently about two lines in diameter. Hepar 30 was given as suited to the symptoms. The result was a perfect absorption of the pus, the removal of the opacity of the cornea and the return of normal vision. Dr. A. Korndoerfer and E. A.Farrington
Otorrhea
A girl, aged 20, had suffered from acute otitis and had an otorrhea. Discharge had ceased after about a month; there was pain and fever, with every indication that matter had formed in the mastoid process. Trepanning was determined on for the following day. Hepar Sulphur 30x was given every two hours, and improvement set in so that the operation was at first delayed and at last abandoned, the case rap- idly clearing up without the evacuation of the pus.
