Nose
Smell is diminished.
Severe sneezing.
Sneezing, immediately after rising from bed in the morning, causing the upper lip to crack in the middle.
Aching pain in the root of the nose.

In this remedy the nostrils are dilated and sooty.

Face
Kent describes best the appearance of the face: ‘It has a sooty appearance, just as if soot had settled in the nostrils and in the corners of the eyes. You will say that the patient is going to die. Quite likely – without Hellebore. The face has a very sickly appearance; sunken; gradually emaciating.’
Stupid expression. Redness of the face.
External heat of the face, the cheeks glow in the room.
Spasmodic contraction of the muscles of the eyebrow.
Forehead or face wrinkled. Wrinkled forehead in brain symptoms.
Quivering in the muscles of the eyebrows and cheeks, with heat of face. Twitching of the upper lids.

Upper lips cracked; lips dry, cracked Constant chewing motion.
Lower jaw hangs down.
‘We find that knitting of the brow and wrinkling of the forehead in just this kind of brain trouble. We find a similar kind of wrinkling in Lycopodium, but the trouble is in the lungs. ’
‘Sometimes the lips move without any sound. The lips move as if the child wishes to say something, but on further questioning the words he wished to speak are lost, forgotten.’ (Kent)
