Thickly coated tongue.
His tongue felt very thick; he could not articulate.
Peculiar sense of constriction at base of tongue.
Astringent sensation in the mouth.
Foul, spoiled taste and breath, with a frequent need to rinse the mouth or spit.
Slight dryness in the mouth and throat, with disposition to swallow frequently.
Throat
As the throat trouble progresses, food and drink come back through the nose; this is due to a paralysis of the muscles of deglutition.
Sore feeling during deglutition.
Dryness and burning in the throat.
Owing to paralysis of the muscles of the throat the patient could not swallow.
Pain from throat to ear on swallowing.
Difficulty swallowing, worse with warm food.
Stomach
The patient in general is thirstless, and it is the exception if there is much thirst. Thirstless during heat.
Thirst during sweat.
Convulsive hiccup.
Pain in the stomach, nausea, and dimness of vision; these symptoms were soon succeeded by ineffectual efforts to vomit, great restlessness, and free perspiration over the body.
Feeling of emptiness and weakness of the stomach and bowel.
Abdomen
Weak, nauseated feeling in the bowel.
Heaviness, and feeling of weight in the bowel.
Rumbling and rattling in the abdomen, with emission of flatus above and below. Sleep disturbed by lancinating pain in the abdomen, better by COpiOUS discharge of flatus.
