at times very scanty discharges, but always acrid, burning the parts all around.
The body generates such heat that he seems to be boiling, yet with no rise of temperature. This is a chronic state, not acute. The patient is aggravated from warm things, aggravated from covering, aggravated from warm air; suffocates in a warm room. Bathing the head in cold water is pleasing, they will stay under the cold water tap for a long time, cooling the back of the head, the cervical region and behind the ears.
‘Sensation as if a burning vapour were emitted from the pores of the body.’ Especially under the covers there is a sensation of great heat, tremendous, like steam; a sensation of burning, and burning pains in parts; burning, in different places, but always on one spot. Or there may be a general feeling of heat, heaviness, and lameness of the whole body.
THE EMOTIONAL PICTURE
The emotional state of such patients is interesting in this remedy. It seems that they do not care about their own family, about their own relatives, even their own children. They consider them as a burden rather than a blessing. They seem to take it for granted that their relatives will always be there for them, and have no interest in them anymore. That is why in the provings we see situations like the following:
‘A lame and imbecile old lady dismissed her nurse, without which she could not get along at all, quarrelled with her nieces, could not bear the sight of them, and tormented, without cause, the whole house.
