FERRUM PHOSPHORICUM

THE ESSENTIAL FEATURES
Fer-phos. is a remedy which is indicated in febrile conditions when the fever is very high, the pulse is full and frequent, the face is flushed, but there are no specific symptoms indicating a remedy, or even where the inflammation may be. The patient, often a child, feels well yet the fever is very high. It will be difficult to say whether this is a common cold, a viral infection, pharyngitis, pneumonia or cystitis; the report is that the child has a very high fever but feels well otherwise, with no other symptoms.
In such a case, if the pulse is full and the face seems flushed, the most probable remedy is Fer-phos. It will be difficult to distinguish it from Aconitum, but there is a big difference. Aeon, will be indicated in the first or second hour of the fever, and if correctly indicated will cut short the febrile condition, but Fer-phos will manifest this picture even after a few days, and after a few remedies that you have been prescribing without results in the meantime. Fer-phos is not the first remedy to prescribe in the first two days of the fever, because during that period almost all cases lack specific differential symptoms.
A characteristic case was related by R. Morison in his seminar in Burgh Haamstede:
