Eyes
The symptoms in this region are discussed extensively above. Here is a short summary, and some additions from the provings and literature:
Inflammation of the eyes, especially of the conjunctivae, with much redness and swelling, especially of the margins of the lids, with itching and burning and sensations of dryness and of a foreign body, compelling frequent blinking. Great photophobia. Profuse lachrymation, also profuse discharge of mucus and pus, agglutinating the lids overnight; the secretions, whether watery or slimy, are usually acrid and burning, corroding the parts they touch, whereas the flow from the nose is usually bland.
‘Biting in the eyes at times; biting water runs from them’ (Hahnemann). Painful pressure in the left inner canthus; with lachrymation from this eye. Sleepy, dry pressure in both eyes. Or: ‘Troublesome dryness in the eyes as though he had not slept at night’. Or else: ‘The eyes are hurting from the light, as if he hadn’t slept long enough’.
Violent pressure in the right eye, with lachrymation; the lids seem contracted, the pupil dim, and the eye seems cold; this condition lasts an hour and then affects the left eye.
Pressure in the region of the eyes, with photophobia and lachrymation; must have the room dark. Photophobia with aching of eyes, especially from daylight and sun. Photophobia amounting to spasm of the lids.
Swelling of the margins of the lids, with a feeling of dryness there. Dryness of the eyes, compelling him to close them, especially while reading or writing.
An urge to blink, because of a ‘contractile sensation from both sides’ in the eyes. Or else: when going outside, itching in the eyes, compelling frequent blinking and wiping, afterwards increased lachrymation. Pressure in the eyes and frequent blinking, ameliorated in the dark.
‘Feeling as though the cornea were covered with much mucus; he is dazzled, and obliged to frequently close and press the lids together’. Dim vision, as through a veil. ‘Half an hour after rising, the eyes are obscured so much that he is unable to distinctly perceive any object for almost half an hour. Everything looks as if enveloped in a mist and as if moving’.
Disturbances of vision: ‘The light seemed to waver, sometimes burning more
