THE ESSENTIAL FEATURES
This ‘small remedy’ belongs to the medicines Hahnemann included in his Chronic Diseases. Its best-known actions are upon the skin and the digestive tract. You will need it in the following cases:
• Burning pain in the bones, in cancer or sarcoma; not to cure them, but to relieve the deep burning pain.
• Burning pain in hip joint disease, worse at night in bed when the patient has to get up and walk around
the room.
• Cataract where the lenses becomes milky white, and also very painful affections of the eyelids.
• Erysipelatous inflammation of the cheeks. Euphorbium causes and cures the most violent inflammations of the skin, such as erysipelas, especially in the face. Violent burning, much redness and swelling, and formation of blisters with yellow contents are symptoms of the remedy, and so one should always think of Euphorbium in cases of erysipelas, especially in its bullas form. Sometimes the inflammation proceeds to the subcutaneous tissues, and necrolysis occurs.
Such states are accompanied by general symptoms like violent fever and great lassitude; also by violent throbbing headaches, mainly in the vertex and occiput. The pain is mostly burning, and this quality of pain will occur in nearly all kinds of affections Euphorbium is suited
