Abdomen
Complaints of liver and gall-bladder; jaundice with malaria and other feverish diseases.
Fullness and tenderness in hepatic region, with stitches and soreness on moving and coughing.
Feeling of fullness and soreness in the region of the liver, with great tenderness to touch and pressure; tight clothing is insupportable.
Rectum, Stool and Urinary Organs
Diarrhoeic stools, with smarting and heat in the anus. The stools may be watery or half-fluid, copious, of a green colour.
Constipation, with light-coloured stools, lacking bilious pigment.
‘With the bilious attacks there may often be an ending in a diarrhoea; copious green discharges, green fluid or semi-fluid stools, but after the attack has lingered until there is one grand emptying out of the bowels, this symptom will disappear and the secondary state comes on, in which there is constipation and a light-coloured stool, or a bileless stool’ (Kent).
Clear but dark-coloured urine; sometimes dark brown.
Neck and Back
Pulsating, beating pain in nape of neck and occiput; when lying down, especially in the morning, ameliorated after rising.
Pain in the back as if sore and beaten, as from a bruise, or as though the vertebrae were broken; all over back, but mostly in the small of the back. Paralytic weakness in the small of the back.
Trembling in the back during fever.
Creeping chills, shivering or coldness, principally in the back, or starting in the back and spreading from there all over body.
Extremities
Very intense pain in the limbs as if the bones were broken. Violent soreness in the bones and muscles; all muscles are painful, like after exertion.
