Rheumatic pain in upper arm, waking from sleep but disappearing during the day. Unusual warmth of the skin, especially the hands, the veins on the hands being remarkably swollen and protruding.
Pain in the left foot as if sprained or dislocated or in both feet. For instance: stinging and tearing pain, as if sprained at the os metatarsal of the big toe, repeated three times when walking, making stepping impossible. Or alter- nately: lancinating pain at the instep of the left foot, as though he had made a false step.
A case cured by Croton (Rückert, Clinical Experiences, Supplement Volume
1:897): for four weeks the patient had pain in both feet, beginning in the heel and radiating to the big toe, which felt as if it were dislocated. Every movement aggravated. There were swollen veins on the dorsum of the foot, and between them red patches that did not disappear on pressure. Croton 30C cured the case.
Fever
Cold feet, extending as far up as the calves.
Flushes of heat, ascending heat, sweat on the face and forehead; especially with nausea and diarrhoea.
Feverish states accompanying skin affections, with distinct warmth of the skin.
Skin
Erythema, vesicles, pustules, violently itching, sometimes covering the whole body, but preferring certain regions, e.g. the scrotum, the vulva, the face.
Renewed appearance of crops of vesicles before the spots are fully healed; all stages of eruption can be seen simultaneously on the patient’s skin. Skin eruptions combined or alternating with diarrhoea, cough or other complaints.
Itching extremely violent, seems unbearable, but strong scratching is impossible because of the skin’s sensitivity, though very slight rubbing relieves. Itching is accompanied by burning or stinging pain.
Erythema covers whole body, as in scarlatina; also with miliary, rash-like vesicles. Symmetrical redness of the facial skin, with warmth.
