Genitalia
‘Excited sexual desire’, in both sexes. There are hardly any other remarkable Crocus symptoms in the male sexual sphere. But the remedy has a great affinity to the female genitalia.
Sensation as if menstruation would appear, with colic and pressing towards the genitals. There are two very characteristic symptoms in the female genital region: metrorrhagia of black, tenacious clots; and movements in the abdomen as from something alive (foetal movements, imaginary pregnancy).
Menses: too frequent (every 3 weeks) or too long lasting (for 2 weeks); too profuse; painful. Complaints during the menses: sensation of fullness in the abdomen, palpitation of the heart, anxiety, depression, twitching and crawling in the extremities, sensation as if there were a foreign body lying at the heart, much thirst, starting on falling asleep, heavy dreams. Metrorrhagia: occurring on the slightest motion, with dark, almost black, tenacious blood.
‘As fast as blood flows from the vulva it is formed into black, string like masses’ (Hering).
Some symptoms that may accompany bleeding from the uterus: movement in the abdomen as if from something alive; sensation as if of a living creature rolling and turning over in the abdomen; rolling, twisting and kicking in the hypogastric region; a drawing feeling up and down or here and there in the epigastrium; sensation of weight and pressing down in the hypogastrium; lassitude, sluggish- ness, discouragement; headache, vertigo, flickering before the eyes, nausea.
Neck and Back
Sudden sensation of coldness, as if from cold water having been poured down the back, in the left half of the back.
A drawing sensation in the small of the back; with uterine bleeding.
Extremities
Cracking of the joints on motion, ‘not without a painful sensation in them’; also with a feeling as if sprained or dislocated. Audible noise in the knee joint, with a sensation ‘not entirely painless’, on stooping.
