overwhelms the physical body by developing nerve tremors, palpi- tations, cramps, etc. The patient describes a tremor in the region of the stomach or the extremities, violent palpitations and twitching. Another aspect of this excitability is an acute sense of touch. Affected parts become very sensitive to touch; a child with marasmus did not want to be approached by anyone.
A second feature on the physical body is the extreme heat that is generated. Iodum patients feel really hot and cannot tolerate the heat. They are warm blooded. The heat of the body can be so great that even during the winter they can be naked in a cool room, yet complaining that they burn. They feel better in the open air and in a cold environment.
The third is the increase of the appetite and the amelioration after eating. There’s an insatiable hunger. They want to eat very fre- quently and this ameliorates their symptoms. Iodum generally feels worse from fasting. Due to their fast combustion, these patients have a thin or even emaciated appearance despite the increased food intake.
