SLEEPINESS AND INSOMNIA
While the repertory notes that Ignatia frequently suffers insomnia as a consequence of grief, often Ignatia individuals continue to sleep well despite their grief. In fact, they will frequently plunge into deep sleep because of their grief. At other times they may feel that if they close their eyes, they will not awaken, and insomnia results. Ma- lignant insomnia, either initial or manifested by waking during the night, is seen.
SUMMARY
In summary, the principle characteristics to remember about Ignatia are:
•The central conflict of idealistic expectation versus reality (especially concerning love relationships). High expectations, idealistic, easily disappointed.
Romantic idealism.
•Grief and ailments from grief. Disappointed love, loss of a loved one leading to silent grief and a closed emotional re- sponse to grief with, sighing and occasional sobbing when alone.
•Aversion to consolation.
•Great unpredictability of behaviour and physical symp- tomatology (e.g. paradoxical physical modalities). Changeable moods, hysteria, erratic, inconstant, paradoxical symptoms.
•Physical symptomatology that usually involves the nervous system giving spasms, neurgias, unexplained numbness, chorea, etc.
