Excessive colic weakness, features sunken, face cold, pale, covered with clammy sweat; pulse thready; thin diarrhoea.
Cold sensation in the abdomen.
Gurgling, as if bowel were full of water.
Excessive rumbling and noises in the abdomen.
Movement in the abdomen, as if bubbles of air rose up and burst.
Sharp pressure across the abdomen, below the navel, from without inwards, especially severe when sitting.
Violent pressive pain deep in the umbilical region.
Colic early in the morning, consisting of a kind of twisting and cutting about the umbilicus, better after the passage of flatulence.
Cutting pain in region of umbilicus, lying bent ameliorated.
Rectum
In the morning after the accustomed draught of milk, discharge of foetid flatus. Purging with nausea and pain in abdomen.
Involuntary stools.
Diarrhoea, and before each stool pain in the abdomen.
‘Diarrhoea and vomiting, with cramps in extremities, coldness of whole body, great thirst weak, hoarse voice and then comes paralytic constipation, will lie for days without stool. After a day or two they will not even respond to injections… Again, when reaction comes, it very common¬ly comes with a diarrhoea, or a sweat, or vomiting; perhaps with all three of these conditions.’ Kent
All desire for stool absent at the usual time.
Sudden dull pressure as from a foreign substance in the anus, with desire for stool, though only some flatus in passed.
During stool, a feeling as though the intestines had insufficient power to evacuate the faeces, though they were soft and partly thin.
Haemorrhoidal irritation.
After an evacuation, a burning, smarting pain in the anus.
Blennorrhoea of rectum, with spasm of bladder.
Stools of pure, viscous, white mucus.
Jelly-like mucus.
