THE ESSENTIAL FEATURES
This is a remedy that has the picture of influenza, when it affects all the muscles of the body. When there is a generalised muscular pain with the feeling of malaise that is produced by influenza (whether the disease be influenza, a cold, diarrhoea or hepatitis) then Eupatorium is the remedy.
How should we distinguish between Eupatorium and Rhus toxico- dendron? Because these two remedies are likely frequently to be confused, there are several differences that should be enumerated. First of all, Rhus-t. is much worse from cold. In Eupatorium you will not see the typical restlessness of Rhus-t., which turns, is a little better, then has to move again; rather, it may be more painful, but they will prefer to stay in one place. But right through to the bone, all the muscles ache, and the whole body feels a great lassitude and malaise. Eupatorium is not ameliorated as much as Rhus-t. by motion , though the muscular pain is much stronger. In Rhus-t. you will also see much more stiffness.
