Cuprum cured a facial neuralgia, where the pain was felt particularly behind the right ear, in the cheekbone and in the upper jaw; the pain was worse from all mental emotions, whereas it was ameliorated by chewing, by external pressure, and by wrapping parts up warmly. But when there was no pain, the patient could not bear warm things around the head!
Mouth
An altered taste in the mouth is a striking symptom of Cuprum. This taste has been called metallic by several provers, some also said ‘coppery taste’, although there are divergent statements concerning the other taste qualities. For instance: ‘Coppery, sweetish taste’. Or else: ‘A sourish taste in the whole mouth as though the tongue were touching iron’. Most reports say that the taste was either bitter or sweet.
Impaired and disturbed taste; food tastes like simple water.
Ulcerated and suppurating gums, often with a green or else purple seam. Cuprum is relatively often indicated in difficult dentition with convulsions. The spasms may be very violent, even resembling infantile eclampsia, with shrieking, gagging and vomiting of mucus.
A strange symptom in spasmodic fits which has been verified several times is a quick forward and backward motion of the tongue, resembling a snake. This symptom has been a pointer to Cuprum in several cases, also in cases of spasms in dogs.
Glossitis; partial paralysis of tongue, with stammering and other disturbances of speech.
Throat
The most striking symptom in this region is: ‘Audible gurgling of drink down the throat, while drinking’, a keynote of Cuprum in many complaints. Cramp-like conditions in the throat are frequent: ‘Inability to speak, on account of spasm in throat’. Or else: feeling of constriction in
