Eyes
Bruised pain in orbitae on turning the eyes. Pressive pain in eyes. Violent itching in the eyes, towards the evening.
Vanishing of sight, as though a veil were before the eyes; with vertigo.
After riding several hours in train, sudden indistinct and double vision; paralysis of left nervus abducens.
Eyes in a vacillating motion, to and fro; wandering look.
Twitching oflids; blepharospasm. Spasmodic motion of eyeballs behind the closed lids, for example: ‘Closed lids, but they are in a constant tremulous motion; red eyes behind them, moving like a pendulum’. Or else: beneath the closed lids spasmodic rolling of eyeballs is felt and seen.
Red, inflamed eyes with a wild look, especially during manic paroxysms or temper tantrums.
Ears
Distant drumming in the ear upon which he is lying, in the morning, in bed, always disappearing on rising.
Boring pain in and behind the ear.
Nose
Sensation as of great rush of blood to nose. Stopped noise, or else copious fluent coryza.
Loss of smell, taste is impaired; obstructed nose but slimy or watery discharge all the same; frontal sinusitis.
Epistaxis, sometimes from right nostril only.
Face
The face is usually pale, grey, sallow, often with a bluish tint; of a dull copper colour. Black and blue rings around the sunken eyes.
Cyanotic discolouration; bluish face, blue lips; cold. In acute condi- tions of spasms or pain, the face may also look deep red and puffy, but usually the complexion is rather pale, greyish or bluish.
Tonic or clonic spasms in the face; risus sardonicus, spasmodic
