it is in Phos., it arises in Crotalus only for those that they love, to whom they are attached, and whom they are afraid to lose.
When problems start going deeper, irritability and sometimes instability arise. Even a very slight external influence may cause a breakdown of the emotional equilibrium. ‘Tremulous weakness, all over, as if some evil were apprehended’. ‘Excessive irritability… snappish temper; irritable, cross, infuriated by least annoyance’.
Soon this instability passes, and there appears a stage which is char- acterised by depression and indifference. ‘The patient becomes melancholic, apathetic and shuns people, with sudden weakness, headache, heartache and diarrhoea’. ‘Depression and indifference towards all objects’. ‘Greatill-humour and prostration’.
Crotalus is effective where there is sadness and thoughts of death. The remedy has been used with success in AIDS and AIDS-related complex as well as Alzheimer’s Disease, when the symptoms agreed.
The Mental Picture
Crotalus affects the mind dramatically, quickly bringing the individ- ual to a state of dementia. Before that end state, the patient starts by having problems with their work; aversion to mental work, with constant fatigue and indolence. They start losing their memory, cannot find a street which they knew very well before, they forget names, and start hunting for words in conversation. While they want to say a specific word, because they cannot find it, they will replace it with another one with similar meaning, but they know it is not exactly what they wanted to say. They will even forget the name of their best friend, and it will take some time before they can recall it.
