Carcinosinum has many fears: fears of animals, fear of horrible things, fear in a crowd. Third, Carcinosinum is close to Pulsa-tilla, Silicea, Calcarea, Natrum muriaticum, and Medorrhinum. So, if we consider the family history of cancer, her fear of horrible things, her fastidiousness, her sensitivity to music, her love for dancing, and her fear of animals, then I think it’s clear that Carcinosinum covers this case very well. My first impres-sion was also Pulsatilla, but then too many elements made me unhappy about the idea of Pulsatilla. I think Carcinosinum is so close to Pulsatilla that it fits this case very well.
(G.V.): You say that it is close to many remedies, so obviously we do not have a clear Carcinosinum picture. I don’t know if you have specific information about Carcinosinum, but I know that I certainly don’t have a clear picture of it; you could fit it into any-thing. Once you see a tendency towards cancer in a family, you can always use Carcinosinum and it will sometimes bring forth a reaction. But I cannot say that I would prescribe Carcinosinum in this case based on the symptomatology alone, at least not as a first remedy.
(A.22): I also thought of Phosphorus because of the mental symptoms, the openness with which she presented herself in the interview, fear of darkness and heights, and coldness and thirst.(G.V.): I also thought of Phosphorus. I even asked some ques-tions in that direction. There were some problems with Phos-phorus though because she did not appear to have any kind of strong hemorrhages and also, if you remember, she did not like cold drinks. On the contrary, she liked things lukewarm, which is a symptom that will lead you away from Phosphorus.
(A.23): What is your argument against Silicea? It is also consid-ered a cold Pulsatilla.
(G.V.): Yes, we spoke about whether it would come first or second as a remedy. One way to look at the case is to say, if we prescribe Pulsatilla first, most probably Silicea will follow. You see, I have been thinking like everybody else, and I have tried to sort out all the information. We have some very prominent information: which is
