but she is still alive. Her father’s sister died of tuberculosis. The patient is the elder of two children; she has a younger sister. During childhood she often felt lonely and wanted to sleep in her parent’s bed. She had a fear of animals, especially snakes, frogs, snails – smooth, cold animals – as well as large dogs which might threaten her. She was frightened by scenes of violence, for example, on television. At the age of four she started school. Her parents are both teachers. She believed that she had to be prepared very early for her father’s death because he was old and could die. (G.V.): What did she study?
(Therapist): Medicine, she is a medical doctor.
(G.V.): She looks young.
(Therapist): It’s due to her upbringing. In school she was hard-working, organized and adaptable, so that she was able to pass her matriculation exams at the age of seventeen.
(G.V.): One year earlier than usual?
(Therapist): Yes. She has an end-of-the-world feeling, and a fear of the future and of not being accepted or approved of by others. She is insecure, gives in easily, is very sensitive and perceptive. She does not like to be alone, is afraid of being alone. She likes aesthetics, noble things, and classical ballet. She likes to be a spectator at festivities rather than a participant because she doesn’t want to be laughed at by strangers and grown-ups. She was adopted at the age of twenty for financial reasons; her father died a few months later and she felt that she had been deserted by her family.
(G.V.): How old is she now?
(Therapist): Twenty-seven. She studied medicine until she was twenty-three. Her practical years began three years ago; additional training in natural remedies and psychology. She had problems with being a subordinate at work and could not accept decisions that she thought were not right. She works conscien-tiously, responsibly and accurately. She likes music, deep, soft instruments and minor key music. She has soft fingernails which sometimes have cloudy white spots. She likes romantic poetry as
