(M.P.): Yes, it came while I was staying at a macrobiotic center abroad. The master there suggested eating roasted sesame seeds and I developed a liking for them.
(G. V.): Do you like to add salt to your food?
(M.P.): Maybe I have to explain that before I did not use any salt at all.
(G.V.): For intellectual reasons?
(M.P.): No. Yes,
(G.V.): Why did you first say “No” and then “Yes”?
(M.P.): Because it wasn’t originally my idea not to eat salt. (G.V.): But do you remember whether you put a lot of salt on your food before this?
(M.P.): No, I didn’t add more salt to my food than other people. I ate my food as it was served to me.
(G.V.): Do you now have a particular desire for a specific food? (M.P.): Yes, cream cheese cake.
(G.V.): Do you like sweets in general or just specifically this cake?(M.P.): It changed a little bit. I generally like sweets, but not as much at the moment as I did in the past.
(G.V.): What foods do you especially like to eat?
(M.P.): White cheese, goat cheese.
(G. V.): Cheese. Do you like cheese in general or a special cheese? (M.P.): Not in general, specifically goat cheeses and creme fraiche.(G.V.): And what about fatty things?
(M.P.): I used to use a lot of olive oil.
(G.V.): Is that usual for German cooking?
(M.P.): No,
(G.V.): It’s unusual, but you like it anyway?
(M.P.): Yes, my taste for olive oil developed while I was studying abroad. I like to eat avocados; they taste good all by themselves or with oil and vinegar and a bit of salt and pepper.
