thing you say to them helps reduce their anxiety; the more you speak, the more their anxiety goes down. It is very characteristic of Phosphorus that the intensity of the anxiety from when they enter to when they leave will be very different- it becomes neg-ligible. That is why we say Phosphorus is convinced about your skills, about your ability to cure them. Even if you haven’t seen your Phosphorus patient for a year, they still feel comfortable coming to you and they will continue to trust you. Phosphorus would not betray you by going to another doctor, because once you have established a good contact with a Phosphorus they will not leave you; they are your patient. Phosphorus likes to come and see you, it makes them feel good. They will always pay you the highest price, it doesn’t matter what you demand, because they have learned through their visits to you that no price can be put on the relief and good feeling they experiences afterwards. With this kind of anxious patient all you have to say is: “Don’t worry, everything is going to be all right, we have examined you, and we now know that you don’t have cancer.” Once reassured they will start talking about their friends or family who are suf-fering, even from the smallest things to find ways to help them.: This would make you say: “Ah, yes, this is Phosphorus anxiety!’ In comparison, Arsenicum would never vocalize concern about anyone else.
All of these remedies exhibit anxieties which also include panic – a fear that they are going to die. But that is not the main thing, rather you have to see the color, essence, behind the different state of affairs in each remedy. Many times I’ve been presented a case where I’ve said: “Oh yes, this case is Staphisagria,” and someone else has said: “Staphisagria is so closed, why not Natrum muriaticum!” At times like these I’ve been surprised to find that the possibility of another remedy hadn’t crossed my mind. But then I have to admit, yes, you are right, Natrum muriaticum. Why didn’t I think about Natrum muriaticum at all in this case? because it does not have the color, the essence, of Natrum muriaticum.
