brain were compressed. Outward pressing and almost boring pain, at one time in the temples, at another over the orbits in a small spot, which disappears on external pressure and is relieved by closing the eyes. Feeling as if a band were drawn tight across the top of head from ear to ear, accompanied by a very severe headache which becomes worse on moving moving, and accompanied by throbbing pain behind the left ear and then behind the right ear. Tensive aching pain in the occiput and nape, which extends to the shoulders. Constrictive and contusive headaches seated in the left parietal region, coming on every day at 11 o’clock in the morning, increasing progressively until the pain became intolerable, then decreasing again and ceasing completely. Tearing headache in the morning after rising from bed till noon, less in the afternoon. Tearing or fine shooting pain in the forehead which is excited and aggravated by touching the part. Painful shocks in head during cough.
Heat of the head during cough. Cold sweat on forehead during diarrhea or chill; perspires on forehead during fever or cough. Complaints from cerebral hemorrhage. Hydrocephaloid, fontanelles open with painful soreness of occiput and neck, blue rings under eyes, frequent nosebleeding, pale face, nausea and vomiting, green offensive stool.
Eye/Vision
Pustular conjunctivitis, especially in children. Conjunctivitis with red and swol- len lids, photophobia, copious purulent discharge worse at night, conjunctiva injected and swollen especially right side where congestion was so severe that pupil appeared buried in a circular depression, discharge from eyes was so copious that it soiled the hair and ears, edges of the lids a red without oedema, right imbedded cornea is ulcerated whereas the left is in a lesser degree. Keratitis with intense pain and great photophobia. Violent neuralgia of the eyeballs, shooting into the head, with gushes of tears and nausea. Intense tearing pains in the eye extending towards the temple, on opening the swollen copiously, the conjunctiva of the bulb was injected and infiltrated, the tunica vaginalis was swollen, the cornea was dim as if infiltrated with a number of small depressions in it, the iris seemed congested and had a dull look, the pupils are contracted reacting but little or not at all to the light, vision is completely lost. Pains in the eyes like those in head, eyeballs seemed to be forced out of their sockets, and objects appeared in a mist. Eyes fixed and turned to right, pupils dilated and insensible during eclampsia. Hardened mucus in the
external canthi. Optical illusions in bright colors. Blue and red halo around light.
Ear
Aching pain from the concha of the ear to the membrana tympani, which ex- tends to the protuberance of the occiput. Coldness of right ear with general hot skin. Ears cold during febrile heat. Cannot endure the least noise during fever. Dullness of hearing of the right ear, with pain.
