Natural order: Halogen. The least reactive of halogens.
Solid form: shiny, non-metallic, greyish-black flakes. Gas form: violet.
Occurs in the environment chiefly as a dissolved iodide in seawater.
ESSENTIAL FEATURES
This remedy is characterised by a fast combustion, producing much energy in the body. This free-floating energy seems to have no direc- tion and spending it becomes a problem.
Most of the symptoms are arising primarily from this fast and ex- cessive combustion. This energy is manifested on all three levels: physical, emotional and mental and can be either in one, two or all of these levels at the same time.
The patient feels as if there is fire in the body that generates unlim- ited amounts of energy. We will be trying to separate the action of the remedy in the three different levels and then the students can combine the symptoms.
PHYSICAL LEVEL
On the physical level, the most prominent feature is the extreme restlessness, an inner anxious feeling that makes the patient un- able to sit for one moment. It is the most restless remedy of the mate- ria medica. The patient feels such energy to be constantly generated, compelling him to move and do something all the time even if such activity is meaningless. There is an irresistible desire to run and to do things in hurry. This patient cannot sit down and study his work even for a few minutes and if he forces himself to do so he feels ag- gravated in all his symptoms.
