Dr. L. B. Wells Case of scarlatina
A girl of eight years, of strongly scrofulous constitution, was taken with scarlatina on January 20th. She passed through it quite comfortably, and professional attendance was discontinued. There has been a slight puffiness about the eyelids for three days, but she had seemed to the family to be doing well.
She slept quietly until two hours ago, when she awoke her mother in a convulsion, in which she has remained ever since. The left arm is in constant motion. The eyes are turned upward or sidewise, with pupils widely dilated. The forehead is corrugated and lips convul¬sively twitching.
Prescribed One powder Helleborus cm (F.). Within five minutes there was a lessening of the severity of the jerking, and she slowly improved without another dose of medicine. In three-quarters of an hour she was thoroughly conscious, and there were no more indications of convulsions.
