Tearing in various parts of the head.
There are shooting pains; pressive pains in the head from congestion.
Brain feels too large and occiput empty; afterwards the reverse in forehead; occiput feels as if it would fall forward; wants to lie down and roll head from side to side; feels as helpless as an infant.
A shock passes through brain, as from electricity, followed by spasms. Puerperal convulsions.
Pain in occiput, closing eyes ameliorates.
Empty, hollow sensation in occiput while brain in front seems too large. Shooting pain during cramps.
Sore pain in vertex during chill.
‘Violent attacks of brain trouble frequently come to a sudden end, but those that are more passive linger, and that is where Hellebore comes in. The Hellebore case will linger for weeks and sometimes months in this state of stupefaction, gradually emaciating. He lies upon the back with the limbs drawn up …often making automatic motions with the arms and legs. Sometimes one side is paralyzed, but the other keeps up automatic motions.’ (Kent)
Heaviness of the brain and sensation as if it were compressed by a tight membrane, with inability to think or to retain anything in the memory.
Pain in the head, as if the whole brain were pressed inwards, at every step in open air.
Pressure in the brain, as if it were compressed from both sides towards the centre and upwards.
Pain in frontal eminence while sitting.
An aching, stupefying, at one time in one half, at another in the other half of the brain, and sometimes in the whole brain.
Bruised pain as if combined with stupidity, now in one, now in another part of the brain, worst when stooping.
Stitches as if rising up out of the brain, in the region of the coronal suture, right side.
The symptoms of congestion of the brain became so marked that the drug had to be discontinued and cold applications made to the head.
