Materia Medica Viva Volume 10 – page 2155

Striking symptoms of exhaustion and paralysis in the knee joint. ‘Weariness in the knees, with painful drawing when standing and walking, which is very troublesome; the knees seem to give way’. ‘On rising, the knees give way’.
Sleep
Much yawning, especially in the evening. Yawns and is sleepy, but without being able to fall asleep, because of ideas crowding upon his mind. Twitching and jerks during sleep. The spasmodic states of the day may continue even during deep sleep.
Fever
Objective coldness of the body, especially of the extremities, also with blue discolouration. Icy cold hands and feet, with convulsions of the extremities. Chill before a paroxysm of whooping-cough begins. Shivering and chill are felt during spasms and drawing and tension in extremities, but the limbs are not cold to the touch.
Heat of the surface of the abdomen, with soreness to touch and tense rigidity, like wood.
Two strange sensations: ‘In the evening, feverish sensation as though a cold wind blew out from under the skin’. Or: sensation as if cold water were poured on head, in headache.
Sour-smelling perspiration; foot-sweat, also suppression of foot-sweat and its consequences.
Skin
Cuprum may be indicated if the skin is dough-like and cold, has lost its elasticity. In moist eczema, especially in the crook of the elbows.
If exanthema or other skin manifestations disappear from the surface and ‘strike inward’, exciting convulsions. ‘Old ulcers’ (Hahnemann).
In passing, it is interesting to note that Cuprum metallicum has also been used as an antidote for the symptoms caused by poisoning with verdigris (compare a case of Kammerer quoted above under ‘Rectum and Stool’; found in Rückert, Clinical Experiences, Vol. 1, p. 831).
