Distension of the stomach and abdomen.
A painless shock in the epigastrium, as if a living creature were jumping up. Or: rumbling and fermentation in the region of the pit. Or: a drawing sensation, here and there, up and down, in the pit of the stomach. Sensation of emptiness in the region of the stomach, also with a total loss of appetite.
A gastric syndrome with these symptoms was cured by Crocus: fullness and distension of the stomach, belching, rancid heartburn, nausea and difficult vomiting; fine cutting pain, beginning in the region of the heart, then spreading to the stomach region, finally settling there as a fixed pain; much dyspnoea at the height of the attack.
Aversion to bananas and peanut butter; desire for sweets, salads, salt, fruits.
Abdomen
Distension and swelling of the abdomen.
Sensation in the abdomen as if something alive were jumping about; in the left or right side of the abdomen; in both sides; resembling foetal motions during a pregnancy; low down in the hypogastrium; accompanied by nausea, shivering and fainting.
Heavy feeling in the abdomen, with a downward-pressing sensation, as experienced during the menses.
Cutting pain deep in the abdomen, extending to the small of the back;
particularly with bleeding from the uterus.
Stitches in one side of the abdomen, which arrest or inhibit the patient’s breathing.
Rectum and Stool
Sensitive, dull stitches in the region of the anus, sometimes through the small of the back up to the (left) inguinal region; the inguinal pain remains for some time, is aggravated on inspiration, then slowly disappears.
Crawling or itching in the anus as if due to worms.
Sensation of writhing in the anus, painfully pervading the whole nervous system. Stool contains coagulated, dark, stringy blood.
Obstinate constipation in infants.
