The most important thing about this so called site of mine, at least for me, is that it is an organized archive of memories and emotions that I can go back to when I need to remind myself of the fantastic energy spots where I have been to and the people I have shared those experiences with. One way or another, for me it remains a channel for emotional extroversion and a place where I can share my personal experiences without necessarily engaging others.

For those who don’t follow the site closely, I’ll just note that I have already written impressions from Alonissos and I won’t repeat them here. Instead, I will share some spontaneous additions which may be interesting or useful to some. And who knows – last year the Bulgarian group consisted of 3 students, this year we were 15, the next year we may outnumber the Indians in the room – all of us impatient and enthusiastic, striving after knowledge in the field of homeopathy J

Despite everything and the plans or our family for the year to come, related to moving to a new country, I wished with all my open heart that all the celestial bodies will align in a such a way that in September 2019 I will be here again, once again study in one of the most prestigious schools of Classical Homeopathy in the world and once again set foot on Alonissos, no doubt the most homeopathic island J There’s some sacral magic here, I’m telling you!

This is the second year in a row that I come here and both times I could hardly wait until the day we set on the journey to Volos – yes, the expectation and everything I see on the island is so emotionally laden that I literally count the days until we travel, much like little children do. The land around here possesses some unusual aura, some special vibration and such an attractive force that I don’t feel like going back. It’s not only the Academy, which is based here and gathers hundreds of people from over 30 countries each year to teach them higher humanity and deep healing with one of the greatest homeopaths alive – Prof. George Vithoulkas, currently aged 87. Let him live long and be healthy for many more years to come!

As per what has become a tradition, I will write a separate entry on Vithoulkas and all the emotions around him J

So here goes:

The island

Alonissos is part of the Greek Sporades and the journey from Sofia passes through Volos and takes about 10 hours – a 5-hour drive to Volos and then another 5 on the ferry, all the way to the last island, after Skiathos and Skopelos. It is surrounded by pirate mysteries, legends of sunken ships and treasures and crystal clear waters (no hotel sewage pipes go to the sea). On the island you have magnificent bellevues, purity, wild nature, and beaches. It’s full of cats and, oh, there’s also seals. Ah, the seals! This year we were lucky enough to meet one which came to greet us within an arm’s length. They are a protected species and it’s rare to see them on the island itself, even though seals are something of a symbol of Alonissos – you can see them on various souvenirs and trinkets, from fridge magnets to real graphic art combining astonishing views of the old town Hora, the clear azure seas and the wild beauty of this place that defies description. The north part of the island is uninhabited, so there are spots ideal for outdoor sports, beaches, silent and meditative walks, away from all sorts of noise and clamor, vanity, hysteria and pollution associated with resorts. Alonissos is often shaken by earthquakes, and it brings a happy smile to my face that this year this didn’t happen, given the little shake last September, just in time to welcome us J

There’s an authentic old town on Alonissos (Hora), and most of the photos I’ve posted here are namely from there – very coquettish and chic, a boutique mini old town with a citadel and church, beautiful art shops, cafes and stony pathways and hills – a true delight for the senses! Picturesque bays are plentiful and the sea is that special kind of azure blue. There’s an abundance of beaches, most of which covered in pebbles. The only sandy one is Chrisi Milia – heaven for every child armed with a tiny play bucket, shovel and sand molds – everything necessary to play in the sand while mom is sitting in the lecture room J The water everywhere is crystal clear and there’s no crowds and multitudes anywhere, silence and peace reign here. A most definitely enchanted place! The island offers diving opportunities – for all those excited about sunken treasures, the adrenaline rush of pirate legends, or quite simply the marine flora and fauna.

The Academy

This homeopathy shrine is a dream come true for George Vithoulkas, who built it more than 20 years ago, using the money he was awarded together with his alternative Nobel prize (Right Livelihood Award). One would have to wonder how big a heart beats within the chest of this humble healer, and how he resisted the temptation to use the money for an exotic vacation to Bora Bora and a luxury vehicle/yacht with leather interiors J I admire him from the bottom of my humble heart – this is a life devoted to serving homeopathy! Together with my colleagues from the Bulgarian group we shot a short film about the Academy, about our personal impressions and the inspiration that leads us along the path of classical homeopathy. Prof. Vithoulkas agreed to give an interview for this project, especially for the Bulgarian audience. The interview was taken by Dani Rusev MD, moderator of the Bulgarian e-learning group of the Academy. We hope to publish the results of our work in the beginning of 2019, because we are all very much excited and work hard so that this wonderful holistic therapy can reach more and more people (to the horror of the pharmaceutical industry J )

The lecturers in the Academy are classical homeopaths from the school of Vithoulkas (Indian lecturers with very successful practices), as well as Prof. Vithoulkas himself, who despite his 87 years of age can boast of wonderful health, a sharp mind, a fresh sense of humor, and is energetic and enthusiastic.

After he shared a lot of insights and experiences with us, also this year he brought happy tears to our eyes with his farewell speech – a lesson in higher humanity, compassion, love for in-depth knowledge about human nature and an incessant drive for perfection (I will share part of his speech in a separate publication).

The great homeopath Prof. Vithoulkas

I have written a lot about him on this site. Not enough, it seems, though, as my admiration for him never subsides. I am fascinated mostly by his personal example – he lives like he preaches, heals and teaches. Humble, fine and characterized by a great depth of mind, his whole life has been dedicated to homeopathy and returning it to its natural place as a first choice healing treatment. Respected, cherished and adored by his grateful patients (each with a pathology worse than the other), tireless, giving to his students and an undisputed factor when it comes to the basis of classical homeopathy. A homeopath with nearly 60 years of practice who doesn’t cease to put the accent on the role of self-awareness, the quality of the attitude towards the patient, the ability to be deeply interested in the case, to never ignore the voice of conscience at the back of your head, to prescribe giving the best you can, like the story of your patient is the most interesting thing you’ve ever heard in your life. He’s still as optimistic as ever, driving his small electric car (a gift from patients) up the hill, a true environmentalist and a guardian of nature, a teacher of values, virtues and well-articulated English J (I have significantly improved my English skills in recent years, thanks to him).

“So if you want to become good healers, watch yourself, particularly how you behave with other people and especially with your patients. If you are on the right path, gradually, conscience will become more and more sensitive, and then you will ‘feel’ for other people – and you will develop as a spiritual being. Treating with classical homeopathy will bestow you with a lot of experience, but the purer your mind will remain, the easier will be for you to find the correct remedy”.

“If you can help one person, you have saved the whole world!” – words uttered by grateful patients (this one person may mean the world to someone).

I pray that his charisma, blessings and energy will lead us and inspire us in each new challenge, because each new case is in a way a test for us. I thank fate that I once again had the pleasure to see him and listen to him!

Whether Vithoulkas breathes life to Alonissos or the island gives Vithoulkas wings and energy – we’ll never know. But I smile at the realization that this unusual and attractive place exists and this year I lived the emotion to the full, together with my classmates from the Bulgarian group, and also with colleagues from literally all over the world training in the art that homeopathy is!
