George Vithoulkas' Contributions to Homeopathy

All the information bellow is included in his complete video teaching course of 500 hours which is presented in to different countries including live cases with follow ups.


 

Theoretical contribution to the principles of classical homeopathy.

  • Introduced the idea of the mental emotional and physical levels, their interrelations and interdependence.
  • The idea of the hierarchy of the different functions within the mental and emotional levels.
  • The idea of stages in diseases and in the treatment of chronic diseases.
  • Introduced the idea of levels in diseases and categorised them in a such a way as to define whether are curable or incurable, whether they will need one or more remedies in order to accomplish a cure, when to use a high or a low potency according to the level the disease belongs.
  • Gave explanations for the repetition of remedies and when such repetitions are indicated or is harmful depending on the different stages of diseases.
  • Explained the role of the homeopathic remedy in the defence mechanism and explained in a logical way the action of the remedy.
  • Clarified the idea of the miasms.
  • Explained and gave the rules when, why and if, an acute must be treated during chronic treatment.
  • Explained the importance in treating an acute in accordance with several rules and not accidentally especially if the patient is under chronic treatment.
  • Explained when mental symptoms, appearing during chronic treatment, are a good or a bad sign.
  • Explained when a high and when a low potency should be applied.

Contributions to the Materia Medica

  • Introduced the idea of the essences of the remedies in other words described the pscycopatholgy of the main remedies.
  • Completed many remedies in their mental emotional pathology from his vast experience with cases treated and cured.
  • Gave for the first time the comparative materia medica of the mental emotional picture of the remedies.
  • Is writing at the moment the materia medica viva out of which has completed ten volumes so far.

Contributions to Repertorisation

  • Introduced the idea of flexibility in studying a case.
  • Gave a new way of analysis of a case in order to find the indicated remedy.
  • Developed the George Vithoulkas Expert System, a unique system of computer analysis imitating his mind in analysing a case in the same manner as he does in daily practice for finding the indicated remedy.
  • Gave a lot of his own observations as additions to the repertory.
  • Gave the right meaning to the totality of symptoms.

Contributions to the practice and teaching of homeopathy

  • Gave a lot of courses all over the world in which he presented the value of classical homeopathy to thousands of students all.
  • Introduced the idea of the video presentation of cases.
  • Explained the necessity of a detailed analysis of the follow-up which is the only way to give the real situation of the patient and not the general sweeping statements of the old times where it was stated simply that the patient got well after the remedy without giving any details.
  • He was the first one to follow the cases over a period of many years and to show the importance of this strategy.

 

Contributions to taking the case

  • Introduced the idea of a detached practitioner who is able to observe objectively and without interfering or projecting his own feelings or thoughts on to the patient.
  • Introduced the idea of underlining the symptoms and proved the necessity and the importance of such underlining giving specific indications for the evaluation of the symptoms.
  • Introduced the idea of taking cases on video so we can have living proof of the successes with homeopathy.

Contributions to the promotion of homeopathy on the governmental and forum levels

  • Supported homeopathy in the World Health Organisation (W.H.O.) by writing articles for the WHO publications.
  • Supported Homeopathy in the European Parliament where he was invited to meet the hierarchy of the EU The President of the EU Dr Hensch the Minister of Health and Environment Ken Collins and the European Committee for Complementary Medicine in 1996 after he was awarded the Alternative Nobel Prize in the Swedish Parliament. Three moths later a directive was passed through the European parliament advising the governments to support research in Homeopathy.
  • Supported Homeopathy in the Council of Europe in May 1998 in a whole day conference in Cyprus.
  • Supported classical homeopathy in the Italian Parliament (Oct. 2002) in order that homeopathy has an official recognition and can be introduced to the Medical Universities in Italy.
  • Awarded the Alternative Nobel Prize for Health in the Swedish Parliament in 1996. (The Right Livelihood Award).
  • Was given the title of Professor Honoris Causa of the Kiev Medical Academy, Ukraine.
  • Awarded the Gold Medal of the Hungarian Democratic Republic by the President of the Country in the Hungarian Parliament, May 2000.
  • Presented with a Gold Medal by the Minister of Health of India, during a course that was attended with 2.500 homeopaths.
  • Established collaboration between the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the International Academy of Classical Homeopathy.
  • Contributed to different centres of research for homeopathy.
  • Has written several books on homeopathy (See under "Books by George VIthoulkas". That have become standard books for those studying this science.

In short, he put homeopathy on a totally different level than the one it was on when he encountered it in 1960.
